Our history

Vestlia Chair Lift opened on Saturday 23 March 1968. The elevator had 74 double chairs and had a capacity of 600 persons per hour. The lift trip took 8 minutes.

The current owners, The Lorentzen Family, was a shareholder in 1976.
Since then, there has been a continuous development of the lifts, slopes and other services.

In 1977 Vestlia was the first ski resorts in Norway to prepare the slopes every day. In 1980, Vestlia was one of the first ski resort to invest in Snow cannons. In the first part of the 80's The Trollklubben with the children lift opened, which has been important to develop the family ski product. .

Around year 2000, Vestlia invested in a new express lift, floodlights and service facilities. Today's Express lift opened in 2001, and the trip to the top now takes 3.5 minutes. Our first terrain park was completed in 2000 and

Vestlia continues to develop their products to enhance the experiences for their guests. 

Name Change

In autumn 2004, Vestlia's owners bought apartments in the center of Geilo. With this new addition, Vestlia changed name to Geilolia.
