Geilolia is a Miljøfyrtårn (Eco-Lighthouse) company

We want to take responsibility for the environment, and in June 2021 we were certified as a Miljøfyrtårn (Eco-Lighthouse) company.

This work includes a review of the company’s purchasing, maintenance, and waste management routines. Equally important is enabling our guests to actively participate in our environmental efforts, as well as considering environmental impact both in our workplace and when selecting partners.

Our goal is to care for both the environment and people while creating value, growth, and innovation.

  2. We will sort waste at source

  3. We will reduce energy consumption

  4. We will increase the number of eco-labeled products

  5. We will increase the number of environmentally certified suppliers by 5%.

Sustainable Travel Destinations

In 2016, Geilo was one of the first destinations in the country to be certified with the sustainable travel destination label, and we see how important it is to show responsibility for the environment.

The Sustainable Destination Label is a quality certification for travel destinations in Norway. It is based on a standard that sets clear requirements for how destinations operate and develop in a sustainable way.

The certification scheme is offered to Norwegian travel destinations that wish to take responsibility for the negative environmental impacts of tourism. Certification requires destinations to protect nature, culture, and the environment, strengthen social values, and ensure economic viability.

Geilolia AS is a member of Visit Geilo and, together with the other member companies, has been involved in the process towards the label. Read more about Geilo as a sustainable travel destination.
