Ski tours
Geilo and the surrounding area are among the best regions in Norway for cross-country skiing. There are over 500 kilometres of groomed trails. The season often starts as early as October or November and lasts until May or June.
Around the Ustedalsfjord
A nice hike with relatively flat terrain and no major elevation changes. Suitable for all ages and levels. The hike is approximately 10.4 kilometers.
To Prestholtseter Havsdalen
Enjoy a true high-mountain experience, with views of Hallingskarvet among other landmarks. The hike is approximately 15.5 kilometres long and follows the same trail both ways.
Round-trip on Kikut
A perfect family hike of 4.6 kilometres in easy terrain. You can start from the parking area at Kikut mountain village or Kikut ski centre and follow the trail around Geilotjørne. Continue towards Hakkesetstølen and return via the road towards Rv40.
Geilo Ski Stadium
There are floodlit cross-country ski trails of varying lengths: 1, 2, 3 and 5 kilometres. The lights are on from 07:00 to 23:00.
Veslerunden
This is a long hike of 36.6 kilometres, so you should plan a full day for it. Follow either the Pariserløype or Buslettløype trail from Vestlia up to Hakkeset, continuing via Hakkesetstølen, Grønebakken and Prestholt, through Havsdalen and back to Geilo. There are several mountain huts along the route, offering opportunities for pleasant breaks.
Kikut-Sangenuten
Enjoy spectacular views on this 28.3-kilometre hike. Start at Kikut mountain village and continue to the summit of Sangenuten. The terrain is varied, and although the hike is long, it is very rewarding.
